About Byron J. Richards
Byron J. Richards, Founder/Director of Wellness Resources, Inc., is a Board-Certified Clinical Nutritionist and has been a charter professional member of the International and American Associations of Clinical Nutritionists (IAACN) since 1991. His professional experience with nutrition, thyroid, and weight issues dates back to 1985 when he began working as the nutritionist for one of our nation's leading thyroid doctors, Keith W. Sehnert, MD. Time Magazine considered Dr. Sehnert the "George Washington of medical self-care." He was one of the founding fathers of alternative health and sadly passed away in 1999. Together they were true pioneers in the area of thyroid health, hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.
Richards has helped thousands of individuals with complex health situations. In his ten years of working with Dr. Sehnert he treated patients suffering from some combination of thyroid problems, weight issues, Candida albicans, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, adrenal burnout, immune dysregulation, food intolerance/digestive complaints, depression, and chemical sensitivity. His in depth experience from the front lines of clinical nutrition can save you hours of wasted time by guiding you in the direction that is most likely to be of help. He can tell you how to use nutrition effectively for any health issue.
Wellness Resources became a place of last resort for many individuals who had lost all hope trying to sort out their multiple health issues. Many of Richards' clients were unable to tolerate the fillers, binders, and low-grade nutrients in typical dietary supplements. In the 1990's Richards met this challenge by formulating dietary supplements without additives, using only the finest quality forms of nutrients. Additionally, his advanced understanding of nutritional biochemistry combined with real-world clinical experience lead to the formulation of many unique nutritional products not available elsewhere.
He designed an entire line of dietary supplements that are tailored to meet the varying needs of individuals with the most difficult and "unsolvable" health issues. The Wellness Resources product line evolved in this results-demanding clinical environment. It became clear that Wellness Resources' quality of ingredients and unique formulations set the new gold standard for the dietary supplement industry. While his products are often imitated by others, the quality is seldom ever matched. Of course, his formulations work well with healthy people too, true quality for the discerning consumer.
In 2002 Richards published his groundbreaking book, Mastering Leptin. He was the first nutritionist that explained what 5000 studies on the fat-hormone leptin meant to diet, weight management, thyroid function, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Prior to that time leptin research was the turf of drug companies looking for the next quick-fix pill. It was Richards who brought this groundbreaking information to the attention of the public. He was actually the first person to explain the complexity of leptin in simple terms, enabling both lay people and his peers to understand the importance of leptin as the commander in chief of metabolism. Quite predictably, others jumped on the leptin bandwagon. On this blog you can talk to the expert who started it all.
Richards is a nationally-renowned health expert, radio personality, and educator. He is the creator and pioneer of The Leptin Diet® and has been a featured expert consultant on Fox News Live, CBS Infinity television (national syndication), and The Wall Street Journal. Richards has appeared on hundreds of radio programs throughout the country. He is also a staunch defender of health freedom and a national leader in the fight against the FDA's desire to eliminate your natural health options. His book, Fight for Your Health: Exposing the FDA's Betrayal of America is widely regarded as the top book on health freedom today.
Richards is also a pioneer in the field of psychoneuroimmunology. He has spent many years collecting patient information and coordinating information relating to nerve function, hormones, stress, and behavior. His unique tool, the Integrated Wellness Analysis (developed in the late 1980s), was the first computerized tool that analyzed several thousand discrete pieces of information relating to symptoms, behavior, and health. He has several online quizzes, including the original Thyroid Quiz and Leptin Quiz that help you to understand how these important issues relate to you.
His most recent book, the Leptin Diet, outlines the key points that every person needs to understand about how their body works. It is the owners manual for your body. Don't go through life at the mercy of your cravings and other metabolic issues. Learn how you can be in charge once and for all. The major discovery that stored fat is actually a metabolic organ has turned conventional health advice on its head. Thyroid problems are now solvable. Don't be left in the Stone Age taking advice from people with a deficient understanding of health. Be on the cutting edge and be in the know. Ask your questions directly to the expert and learn from other's experiences here in this blog. You'll be glad you did.
