Will the hCG Diet Make You Infertile & Give You Cystic Ovaries?
Monday, September 26, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNThe hCG diet is based on a 500 calorie per day diet, which is brutal torture to your metabolism. It is probably better than being diseased from the adverse side effects of obesity, but it would be a last ditch effort after all other reasonable options have been exhausted. The addition of hCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) to the diet makes it even more risky, as hCG will interact with sex hormones in women or men in unpredictable ways. The hCG diet has become a “medical fad” wherein various doctors, often pretending to be natural health practitioners, offer prescriptions for daily hCG injections…

Saturday, September 17, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNA higher protein diet typically enhances metabolism and supports healthy weight loss. For example, a whey protein smoothie with a serving of fruit typically provides great energy and reduces cravings for food. However, a small percentage of people seem to get even hungrier between meals as a result of a high protein meal. A new study with green tea not only explains why but also suggests green tea is a solution for this problem.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNI refer to the problem as “fat in all the wrong places.” It is most common in overweight people, but can happen in anyone. When such fat surrounds your arteries or heart in excess it generates significant inflammatory signals into your arteries, provoking the process of plaque formation. It is interesting that this is not fat inside your arteries that is doing this, it is fat on the outside – and it is a major health problem faced by millions of Americans.

Tuesday, September 06, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNI like to think that my efforts to educate everyone make you smarter and healthier as a result. Try this puzzle on for size: A new study in mice that were made obese by constant overeating shows that there are fewer free radicals in the hypothalamus of their brains, fueling brain circuits that reinforce cravings. When free radical levels are increased, then cravings are reduced. Unfortunately, when free radicals are increased more brain damage occurs. “It’s a catch-22,” said senior author Tamas Horvath, “On one hand, you must have these critical signaling molecules to stop eating. On the other hand, if exposed to them chronically, free radicals damage cells and promote aging.” If you understand why then you are smarter than the researchers who did the study.

Sunday, September 04, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNVarious nutrients can help your metabolism as well as your bones, often working in different, yet synergistic ways, to bolster your health. Resveratrol, quercetin, and vitamin D are each excellent nutrients for metabolism and bones – and new science is showing that they work with each other for even better results.

Saturday, September 03, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNA 16-week study with overweight premenopausal women shows that a diet higher in protein and calcium results in a greater reduction of fat while preserving lean muscle. This is very important as losing muscle when you lose weight can actually make your health worse, even though you have lost weight.
