Forget About Liposuction for Weight Loss
Sunday, June 05, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNResearchers at the University of Colorado School of Medicine have determined that the fat weight lost from liposuction1 is back in 1 year’s time – distributed in other areas of the body. I am a big believer in restoring the fitness of your fat so that your fat, as a metabolic organ, is healthier. About 450,000 people per year think that removing part of their fat organ is going to be a short cut. You’ll have to have a better strategy than that to fool leptin.
Using a lot of advanced imaging technology the researchers found that the liposuction operation typically resulted in a 2% loss off the body fat percentage number. They repeated testing at 6 months, 1 year, and two years. By six months the fat was coming back and by two years it was all back – but in different places. It mostly came back in the upper abdomen, arms, and shoulders. The moral of the story is that if you remove part of your white adipose tissue organ some other part of that organ will grow in size to accommodate what was removed.
