Mid-life Obesity Signals Late-life Memory & Cognitive Problems

Monday, July 13, 2009  -  Byron J Richards, CCN

There is a rather severe price to pay for doing things wrong when you still have a chance.  Not only is being overweight an increased risk for cardiovascular problems and cancer, the wear and tear of it all also takes a serious toll on your brain.

The latest study used data from the Swedish Twin Registry and found that individuals who were overweight in the 1960s had a significantly sharper decline in their memory and thinking skills in old age.

Living in the moment has its consequences.  Think twice before eating too much or eating junk – or one day you may not be able to think at all.
