Tocotrienols Can Help the Metabolic Syndrome
Tuesday, October 04, 2011 - Byron J Richards, CCNThe metabolic syndrome is now an epidemic in America and people with this problem will overwhelm the health care system in the coming months and years. Researchers are now advocating that tocotrienols can help correct this problem by naturally addressing virtually every aspect of the problem.
Metabolic syndrome is the name given to a collection of common health problems that involve being overweight and having high triglycerides, high cholesterol, high blood sugar and high blood pressure. This collection of problems drastically increases the risk for cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes, and therefore, early mortality and very poor quality of health. Unfortunately, once this group of problems sets in they tend to be self-perpetuating and difficult to solve. Drugs that treat the symptoms and numbers make matters worse over time and offer no hope of any real solution. Of course a person must clean up their diet, lifestyle, and consistently exercise if they are to make any actual progress. However, the path back to health is still a large project filled with bumps in the road. Thus, using potent nutrients like DHA to help correct stubborn problems makes basic common sense. A new study reviews the science of tocotrienols and how they can help virtually every aspect of the metabolic syndrome—a benefit that is more likely to happen if you are also eating better, exercising, and improving your overall lifestyle and health habits.
The researchers review the science that proves tocotrienols can help you:
1) Improve lipid profiles, including lowering LDL cholesterol.
2) Decrease elevated blood sugar.
3) Prevent damage from elevated blood sugar (reduce hemoglobin A1c).
4) Normalize blood pressure.
5) Combat obesity.
Tocotrienols are not some sort of magic cure or wonder drug. However, they can help guide your metabolism out of a problematic combination of problems as long as you are also doing other health basics of common sense. They can actually help solve problems at the source, rather than simply suppress numbers or symptoms that are false markers of “improvement” promoted by the pharmaceutical industry and its gullible followers.
